Cooking Struggles While Staying Home?
As a result of Stay-At-Home orders, many families have been forced to cook meals from their own kitchen. Preparing and making healthy, delicious meals can be a real struggle. Interestingly, healthy frozen food sales have increased during this pandemic.
While cooking from home can be a struggle (e.g. losing the joy of cooking), there are certain recipes, tips, and resources to help you as you navigate the kitchen. FMI (the Food Marketing Institute) has encouraged families during the month of September (National Family Meals Month) to have one more meal at home each week. However, as a result of the Coronavirus, these past couple of months have served as a perfect time to enjoy family meals together.
SO, in order to better help you with family meals, “(a) few months ago, the FMI Foundation challenged a number of food influencers and partners to share some of their best suggestions and advice they would offer people striving to manage various food challenges being presented by the COVID-19 pandemic” (Cosgrove).
From those suggestions, FMI created a site with a wide variety of resources and tips to aid you in your family meal endeavors. It covers:
- Recipes.
- Food Safety.
- Shopping, Stocking, and Planning.
- Family Meals.
- Creative Hacks.
- Self-Care.
- Nutrition assistance programs. (Cosgrove)
