Balancing Work and Life at Home

It can be really difficult balancing work and life while at home. It’s hard to concentrate with noisy kids in the background or in a busy household.

Also, in prolonged periods of self-isolation, stress and anxiety levels increase, with the possibility of depression setting in.

While you’re at home trying to protect your physical health, your mental health is being affected. So how do you keep your mental health in check as you work from home?

Here are some steps that can help:

  • Find a quiet room in the house where you will not be bothered.
    • On the video messaging space Google Meet, it can detect background noises to cancel out (e.g. dogs barking or kids shouting).
  • Make a schedule and follow it.
  • Find time to exercise.
  • Separate work hours from life/family time
    • On Google Chat, you can mute your notifications so you will not be bothered as you spend time with family.
    • Enjoy Family Meals together! (If you need help with cooking tips, recipes, ideas, etc., click here!)
  • Make time to connect with others (whether this is through FaceTime, Skype, or Google Meet)
  • Spend your free time reading HOPE-filled works like Ray Pritchard’s An Anchor for the Soul.
