Bob Burris Obituary

Robert Donnan Burris of Milford went to be with his Savior on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at his home. He was 65.

Mr. Burris was born on Sept. 23, 1944, in Santa Ana, Calif., son of Lillian Marshall Burris and the late John E. Burris.

He was the President and CEO of Burris Logistics in Milford for 25 years. Mr. Burris willingly passed along his ideas, experience and natural talents as a successful businessman to many aspiring entrepreneurs starting a new business venture.

He was a long time member of the Board of Directors for Bayhealth Medical Centers. He also served on the boards of Conectiv Power, the Federal Reserve in Philadelphia, WBOC television station, the State of Delaware’s Young Life program and the Delmarva Christian High School in Georgetown. He was also a member of the Bombay Hunting Club where he enjoyed duck and goose hunting.

Mr. Burris was a member of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lewes.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Roland Burris; his mother, Lillian Marshall Burris of Milford; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnan R. and Amy Burris of Lewes; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Darren Shelburne of Turnersville, N.J. and Megan S. and Dr. Kahlib Fischer of Lynchburg, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Cathy Burris of Wilmington and Howard and Debbie Burris of Milford; a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Bob Hoopman of Kiawah Island, S.C.; and eight grandchildren.
