Daryl Hicks Receives CCNA Certification
Daryl Hicks of the Solutions Team has recently obtained his CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification.
In order to receive this certification, Daryl had to jump through a multi-step process, beginning with a preliminary math and English exam, an interview, and a basic networking exam. After passing these, he was accepted into the Cisco Networking Academy and began attending class 3 nights a week, 5 hours each night from January 2020 to April 2020. Mark Williams served as a great source of support and encouragement for Daryl, allowing him to work the day shifts so he could attend his night classes.
This class prepared Daryl for the 2-hour exam necessary to receive his certification. It consisted of 104 questions in various aspects of networking – network fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity and services, security fundamentals, and automation/programmability.
As a result of Daryl’s hard work, he has seen a huge improvement in his troubleshooting methodology when diagnosing and resolving issues that are reported to Solutions. Not only has he come away with a prestigious certification, but also a greater knowledge of the world of networking that he is willing to share with anyone who’s interested!
If anyone is looking to pursue CCNA certification, feel free to reach out to Daryl for more information. He said, “There was a great deal of material to cover in preparation for the exam; my advice for anyone going through this course is to develop a study plan, and as part of that – make sure to go through the practice labs and practice exams as many times as possible – the exam is not easy!”
A big thank you goes out to Daryl’s wife, Alison, who has been a huge source of support and encouragement for him throughout this journey!
Congratulations, Daryl! The Burris Technology Team is celebrating with you!
