Elkton’s HR “Superwoman”
Ms. Shaniqua Brown joined Burris Elkton in 2011 when she was just a 19-year old University of Delaware sophomore. She juggled both part-time and then full-time work as an intern and then as a member of the HR team while taking full-time classes.
She graduated with honors in 2013 with her Bachelor’s Degree in
Finance. She continued her education and pursued her Master’s Degree in
Business Administration from Wilmington University in 2016.
Elkton’s HR Manager, Peggy Maher-Daniels, said that when she first met
Shaniqua (or Shiq as she is known to her HR team) and interviewed her, she thought that Shaniqua might be too shy for the role, but said “I sensed beneath that quiet demeanor she had strong skills and would be quite capable of dealing with any type of situation.”
HR team member, Ms. Taletha Hendrix, who is an HR Coordinator, described Shaniqua as “someone you can always count on to get the job done. She always goes the extra mile. She never complains and just does what she is asked to do and then some. Shaniqua is a true example of a team player. She is always at work and even when on vacation, takes her laptop with her in case she may be needed, even though we try not to bother her. When it was time to enroll the drivers into the new biometric system, she came in after hours to make sure everyone would be able to clock in when we went live. She always has the answers to your questions that you have and even when she doesn’t have the answer, she will do what it takes to find the answer for you. I admire her so much and I am so thankful that she is a part of this HR team.”
When Shaniqua is not busy working, she enjoys lots of trips to Los Angeles, New York City, especially with her Mom to be guests on “The View” and Disney, Disney and more Disney!
She loves basketball, both college and pro, and according to Peggy, “chicken nuggets, chicken fingers and chicken nuggets!” Peggy added, “I would love to see Shiq slide right into my seat when the day comes because I will leave knowing Burris Elkton team members are in the best care.”
