Christmas 2019 at our Different Locations
Christmas has always held a special place in the heart of the Burris family. In the 1970s, Burris gave each Team Member a turkey for their Christmas dinner. Only recently, have they changed it to Thanksgiving.
Not only does Burris want our Team Members to enjoy Christmas with their families at home, but we also want to celebrate the holiday together as a Burris Team! Each year, most of our locations throw a Christmas party and/or a contest, boosting team spirit and thanking our Team Members for all of their hard work. These contests vary, but they usually involve wearing ugly Christmas sweaters and decorating office spaces.
Keeping with the spirit of Christmas, some of our locations also collect and donate food and toys to bless those less fortunate than ourselves.
Here is a snapshot of what some of our locations did to celebrate Christmas this year!
Elkton: Richie Burns, a brain tumor survivor, partnered with the “Miles of Smiles” campaign to donate new toys to children in area hospitals. All of Elkton pitched in to make this campaign happen. Also, Elkton’s Finance Team enjoyed a Christmas luncheon at Timothy’s of Newark.
Federalsburg: This year, Federalsburg Team Members adopted a family for the holidays. Thanks to the team’s giving, Sheila Richardson’s and Judi White’s coordinating, and Phil Ranalli’s delivering, they were able to help that family have a merrier holiday.
Haines City: In preparation for the holiday season, the offices were festively decorated. Haines City also hosted a Christmas luncheon for the team, along with an Ugly Christmas Sweater Competition!
Harrington: This year, Harrington partnered with Wreaths Across America to place greenery at the tombs of fallen American soldiers. They also decorated their offices (one of the door’s wreaths has a Grinch hand stealing an ornament!).
Lakeland: Lakeland’s HR Team rocked their Ugly Christmas Sweaters!
Milford: This year, Milford’s Finance Team gathered and donated new toys to the Boys and Girls Club! They also threw a great party where Donnie Burris gave an overview of the Burris year, the Christmas story was read, food was enjoyed, and Christmas games and music were played!
New Castle: New Castle decorated their offices and celebrated Christmas with music, gifts, and Uncle John’s BBQ!
Orlando: The Orlando Team collected Toys for Tots–one of which was a special bear named Ted. According to Samantha Miller, “The Senior Leadership served two lunches for our wonderful Day Shift and Shipping Team Members and one late night dinner for our awesome Receiving Team Members. We all enjoyed the great food and even better fellowship.” See the gallery for some great photos!
Trinity: Trinity decorated their desks for Christmas and had a Christmas Spirit Week!
