From Work Space to Happy Place

For many of our locations, open office areas are the norm for administrative staff. There is evidence that being allowed to personalize and decorate your work area within an open office plan can improve productivity and job satisfaction. That certainly seems to be true of Elkton Team Member Lynn Simmers, shown left with office pal Sasha Trusty. She has created her happy place by keeping beach-themed mementos on display.

New Castle’s Maryia Hacker has used plants and greenery to make her area more inviting. See the oneburris.com article: https://oneburris.com/bring-your-plant-to-work/

Each person’s work environment is different depending on the person. While papers strewn all across a desk may not affect that person’s productivity, for others, a disorganized desk may lead to an ineffective work day.
In general, a clean, organized office space gives the impression that you are a competent employee in control of your work. The way your items are arranged on your desk should not dictate your work day.
However, employees love to spice up their office spaces. Maryia Hacker of New Castle fills her desk with beautiful plants and pictures of her family. Lynn Simmers of Elkton arranges her desk with seashells and beach decorations. Berta Stubbs of Harrington has an army of sun catchers surrounding her desk.
It is important to maintain an area that is both comfortable and conducive for focusing on the work at hand. If you are looking for great additions to your desk, office plants are known to increase productivity. You can find low maintenance office plants by visiting the One Burris article, “Bring Your Plant to Work.”
Your office is your home away from home, so make sure you can focus while you’re there.
