Food Safety Focus | Eat and Drink in the Right Place

Food Safety Focus

Hello All!

I hope this message finds all of you and your families safe and well.

I want to focus on something that all of us love to do, eating and drinking! There is nothing wrong and everything right with some good food and a tasty beverage to help fuel us up to tackle everything we need to do each day. In the workplace, there are places where eating and drinking are allowed and there are places where it is not allowed.

The lunchroom is provided to give us a place where we can enjoy our meals in peace without the food we handle in the warehouse affecting the food we bring in for our lunches and vice-versa. Eating in the warehouse is not allowed. That goes for chewing gum and candy too. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found candy wrappers on forklifts during an inspection. There is an old picture of a half-eaten sandwich that was found in the freezer of one of our facilities years ago that we used in a training video to illustrate how out of hand this can get if you don’t make sure this is known to all team members.

Please also feel free to enjoy that tasty, non-alcoholic of course 😉 beverage in the breakroom only as well. Bottled water is allowable in the warehouse, within the standards of our policies and certifications, if the water is in its original bottle with a screw top lid to seal it. No mystery bottles that you have to open and taste just to confirm what’s inside them. The water cannot be flavored or have anything added to it to keep sugar and other sweeteners out of the warehouse in case something spills. We don’t want to attract any pests like ants, etc. This is at the discretion of each site’s General Manager.

Thank you for all that each of you do every Day to ensure safe food for our families!
