Food Safety Focus

Hello All Team Members!

I hope this message finds all of you and your families safe and well,

This week I wanted to talk about something that we can all agree is an important part of the warehouse – Sanitation! But what does sanitation mean? Good question, my friends. Sanitation is defined by Cambridge as: The systems for taking dirty water and other waste products away from buildings in order to protect people’s health.

I like the part about protecting people’s health, because this is the heart of what sanitation is all about. Removing waste is vital to health. So why is it the last thing we care about in the warehouse sometimes when things get busy?

No matter how busy we get, we can never afford to let sanitation slip, especially in the warehouse. Boards, wrap and trash left not picked up can be a hazard for many things including slips, trips, falls, pest harborage, damaging load wheels of forklifts and many other issues. Best practice is to clean as you go rather than all at the end of the day. This will help keep it from getting piled up and overwhelming by the end of the day.

As always, thank you for all you do to provide safe food for our families and a sanitized
warehouse we can all be proud of at any time of the Day!
