Food Safety Focus

Hello All!

I hope this message finds all of you and your families safe and well.

This food safety focus will focus on Attitude.  You may ask, how does Attitude affect food safety?  Remember this: Attitude affects everything!  Even as we read this, our attitude is affecting how this message comes across to us.

Definitions for attitude range from a complex mental state involving beliefs and feelings and values and dispositions to act in certain ways, “he had the attitude that work was fun” to a position of aircraft or spacecraft relative to a frame of reference (the horizon or direction of motion).  I always liked the second definition here, as it relates to how an object, like a plane relates to something fixed, like the horizon.  But how does all this affect food safety?

Keeping a healthy attitude is key for a good food safety culture.  Auditors have learned to look for it in the team member interviews during audits.  Team member interviews are a part of the audit process, to both test their training and to feel out how the team member feels about what they are doing.  Do they know how valuable what they are doing is?  The reasoning is, that team members with a healthy attitude towards their work are more likely to follow the training they have been given, especially when no one is around.

Please remind someone today of how appreciated they are and thanks again for all you do every Day!
