Food Safety Focus | National Taco Day

Food Safety Focus

Hello All Team Members!

I hope this message finds all of you safe and well.

Today is a beautiful day and we have something great to celebrate – Happy National Taco Day!  That’s right, it’s taco Tuesday on a Wednesday for real and many different restaurants are offering discounts and special pricing to help celebrate this special day with us.

A legend claims that miners from the silver mines of Mexico, dating as far back as the 1700s came up with the name “taco” because the food resembled the explosive gunpowder wrapped in paper that they used in the mines.

The taco first made its way into the U.S. by the early 1900s.  Street vendors in places like Los Angeles and San Antonio began to sell them from street carts during events and celebrations and the taco became popular as an exotic food.  Within a few years, the taco would evolve with many different recipes and ways to enjoy them into what we know them in the U.S. today.

So, please celebrate with me today by enjoying as many tacos as you can in all the ways you love them.  As always thank you for all you to provide safe food for our families each and every Day!
