Food Safety Focus | Focus on Trailer Inspections

Food Safety Focus

Hello All Team Members!

I hope this message finds all of you and your families safe and well,

Let’s talk about something fun that we all love to do, trailer inspections!

Trailer inspections are an important part of the loading and unloading process and is a requirement of our policies and certifications. Please make sure all trailer inspections are documented and verified as being completed and included in our paperwork.

During the inspection, look the trailer and reefer unit over carefully during the inspection to make sure the product will be safe during its journey. Inbound trailer and product temperature should be recorded in the receiving paperwork and outbound trailers should be pre-cooled and set to the proper temperature before loading.

Look at the walls, floor and ceiling of the trailer to make sure there are no holes that could let air or water through to affect food on the trailer. Look for any signs of rodent activity in the trailer, as well.

Also make sure chemicals are never loaded on the same trailer with food products. Any issues should be recorded and brought to your supervisor or manager’s attention, please.

I wanted to take a moment and say a special thank you to all of you for all you do each day. Sometimes with life, we can forget to say out loud what is in the heart. We wouldn’t be the great company we are without the efforts of each and every one of you.

Please go out of your way to say a special thank you to another team member and let our appreciation be known.

Thanks again for all you do to provide safe food for our families each and every day!
