Food Safety Focus | The Winds of Stress

Food Safety Focus

Hello All Team Members!

I hope this message finds all of you and your families safe and well,

I wanted to take the time and talk to you today about something that can affect all of us from time to time – Stress!  A little stress can be a good thing… wait, what?  It’s true and let’s see why.

I once heard of a biosphere 2 dome built in the desert to create a controlled environment where different ecosystems could be studied.  They found that the trees grew higher and faster inside the dome, but when they reached full maturity, they would fall straight over!  Their roots could not support the weight of the trunk and branches because scientists didn’t simulate winds inside the dome.  The trees and the roots needed some wind resistance to strengthen the wood as the tree grew up.  When the tree is strengthened in this way, the tree will last for many years after full maturity occurs.  The key is balance and handling stress in a positive way along the way.

This is good to keep in mind when handling new team members in training.  Strengthening needs to happen in a balanced way to ensure team members can stand tall when they mature fully and not fall over under the wind of their own responsibilities later.

Once again, thank you for all you do to provide safe training for our team members and safe food for our families, each and every Day!
